project 2400
Final Stage - Taking Back Space
Multi-Use
Victoria's Bachelor of Interior Design thesis project focused on creating a supportive, secure environment for women fleeing intimate partner violence. The proposed facility offers a holistic approach to healing by integrating safe housing, communal spaces, therapy services, physical activity areas, outdoor healing gardens, and on-site childcare.
The renderings shown highlight key elements of the design, including the gathering circle—a versatile, round breakaway space intended to encourage engagement, socialization, and a sense of community among residents. The communal kitchen was intentionally designed as a space for nourishment and connection, where residents can cook, learn, and heal together. A self-serve produce station promotes independence and creativity, empowering residents to choose fresh ingredients and explore culinary interests at their own pace. More than just a place to prepare meals, the kitchen acts as a central hub for meaningful interactions, shared experiences, and the rebuilding of daily rhythms—fostering a sense of normalcy and belonging in a time of transition.
